How to price event tickets: a practical framework

Cost-plus, value-based and tiered pricing, early birds and how platform fees affect what you take home.

Start from your break-even

Add up fixed costs (venue, talent, production, promotion) and divide by realistic attendance — not capacity. That's your floor.

Check what the market pays

Look at similar events in your city on the city pages. Price within the range unless your offer is clearly different.

Use tiers

Early bird (limited quantity), regular, and a premium tier (front row, merch, meet-and-greet). Tiers let price-sensitive fans in early while premium buyers fund the margin.

Account for fees and refunds

Platform fees are a percentage of paid sales net of refunds. Run your numbers through the fee calculator before you publish.

Don't discount at the last minute

Late discounts teach your audience to wait. Use a waitlist or a limited flash code instead.
