Event accessibility checklist

Practical steps to make your event welcoming for people with disabilities and different needs.

Say it on the event page

List step-free access, accessible washrooms, seating options and how to request help. People can't plan around information they don't have.

Venue access

Check ramps, lift access, doorway widths and the route from drop-off to seat. Visit in person if you can.

Seating and sightlines

Reserve accessible seating with clear sightlines, and seats near the exit for people who may need to step out.

Communication

Use clear signage, large readable text, and captions or transcripts for video and online sessions where possible.

Sensory considerations

Warn about strobe lights and very loud segments in advance, and offer a quieter area at larger events.

Ask and listen

Add an optional accessibility-needs question at checkout and follow up personally with anyone who answers.
